Dr. Loren Borud is an internationally recognized plastic surgeon. He is also the president of his own consultancy firm the Borud Consulting that provides his clients with consulting services regarding the healthcare industry, venture capital issues and private equity issues.
With his consultancy firm, Dr. Borud is able to give advices for the many companies such as those in the biotechnology devices and in medical fields, companies offering surgical products, web design and many others. Before he became the president of Borud Consulting, he was with the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where he is one of their leading plastic surgeons. He also was an instructor in Harvard Medical School for plastic surgery for 8 years from year 2000 to 2008.
As an instructor and assistant professor in Harvard, he was able to mentor med students and also gave them advises. During this time Dr. Loren Borud also founded the Body Contouring after one goes for the Massive Weight Loss or MWL program. He had received recognitions both in the United States and abroad for body contouring. Dr. Borud was a fellow in New York University and also in Mt. Sinai Medical Center for hand µvascular surgery from 1999 until the following year. His residency for plastic & reconstructive surgery was taken at New York University and he stayed there for 2 years. He stayed for 7 years from 1990 to 97 at University of California where he took up his residency for General surgery and as a research fellow for plastic surgery. Here he was able to receive an award for outstanding basic research prizes for 2 years from 1993 to 1994. From the year 2004 to 2008 Dr. Borud was Ethicon’s key opinion leader consultant.
Dr. Loren Borud has many years’ experience in this field of medicine. With over 20 years as a plastic surgeon and 8 years as an assistant professor, he also is an author of a book titled Plastikonomics which deals with the economics side of plastic surgery.
