Hiatal Hernia

hiatal hernia

The opening that connects the esophagus to the stomach is controlled by a series of muscles. If these are weakened, stomach acid can flow into the esophagus and cause inflammation or even make part of it enters the abdomen causing a hiatal hernia. People are walking around unaware of their condition while others suffer symptoms with greater intensity.

The most characteristic is a painful, burning sensation in the chest and throat, worse after large meals, lying down or bending down or when abdominal pressure increases. The most common causes that can lead to this condition is related to the increase in abdominal pressure: coughing violent and repeated vomiting for extended periods of time, pregnancy, intense exercise, overweight and obesity.

Food can prevent or reduce the risk of developing this disorder (mainly in case of overweight or obesity), or help reduce the discomfort of a hiatal hernia already in place along with the proper prescription drug treatment optional.
