Five habits to combat childhood obesity
Childhood obesity is one of the biggest health problems of the country, particularly for Hispanics.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 20 percent of Hispanic children between 12 and 19 are obese. In contrast 18 percent of all children between 12 and 19 are obese.
“We could say that is the main problem of our community,” said Dr. Philip Lobel, a nutrition specialist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a federal government agency that promotes good health.

Increases survival in patients with diaphragmatic pacemaker
According to a study by the National Paraplegics Hospital of Toledo, under the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, the survival of patients with high cervical spinal cord injury, who require respiratory support with diaphragmatic pacemakers have gone from average life expectancy of 13, 2 years in 1998 to 18.18 years in 2009.

Advances in vaccine cocaine
Researchers at the School of Medicine, Yale University, U.S., tested an experimental vaccine with 55 cocaine addicts during a clinical trial that lasted 24 weeks.
The study results were published in Archives of General Psychiatry (Archives of General Psychiatry.) The scientists found that 38% of participants failed to reach adequate levels of antibodies to help feeling a sense of euphoria it produces the drug.
The vaccine works by “wrapping” of cocaine that has no effects on the brain, heart or other organ, “” this is the first successful controlled trial of a vaccine against cocaine, say scientists.
