Five habits to combat childhood obesity

childhood obesityChildhood obesity is one of the biggest health problems of the country, particularly for Hispanics.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 20 percent of Hispanic children between 12 and 19 are obese. In contrast 18 percent of all children between 12 and 19 are obese.

“We could say that is the main problem of our community,” said Dr. Philip Lobel, a nutrition specialist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a federal government agency that promotes good health.

The barebacking sex is a new modality that is spreading in big cities and is practiced by homosexuals, bisexuals and heterosexuals. Increases survival in patients with diaphragmatic pacemaker

diaphragmatic pacemakerAccording to a study by the National Paraplegics Hospital of Toledo, under the Government of Castilla-La Mancha, the survival of patients with high cervical spinal cord injury, who require respiratory support with diaphragmatic pacemakers have gone from average life expectancy of 13, 2 years in 1998 to 18.18 years in 2009.

The study was conducted by the head of Internal Medicine Center, Dr. Javier Romero, and Ana María Sánchez Aranzueque doctors, Claudia Gambarrutta, María Ángeles Marín, María Elena Diez de la Lastra, María Victoria Merlo, ICU professionals and Pneumology, informed the Board press release.

Advances in vaccine cocaine

Researchers at the School of Medicine, Yale University, U.S., tested an experimental vaccine with 55 cocaine addicts during a clinical trial that lasted 24 weeks.
The study results were published in Archives of General Psychiatry (Archives of General Psychiatry.) The scientists found that 38% of participants failed to reach adequate levels of antibodies to help feeling a sense of euphoria it produces the drug.

The vaccine works by “wrapping” of cocaine that has no effects on the brain, heart or other organ, “” this is the first successful controlled trial of a vaccine against cocaine, say scientists.

Like all foods, strictly speaking, chocolate is not fattening. It depends how it is integrated into the daily diet, which is normal, weight-loss or excess (nibbling).

Chocolate is wrongly considered as a guilty pleasure and this is perhaps its sugar content. However, it is proved that the fat contained in chocolate, cocoa butter, lowers “bad cholesterol” in the blood and increase the “good cholesterol”, which is good for the heart and arteries. Better yet (some enjoy), chocolate contains compounds that stimulate the brain, providing a feeling of euphoria. But beware – the more you eat, the more you’ll be hooked!

While a product is fat, high calorie: one tablet of 100 grams is equivalent to 200 grams of fried or 3 tablespoons of oil. And contrary to popular belief the difference in calories between dark chocolate and the milk is not so obvious: respectively 516 and 541 calories (per 100g).
