The diet of the pregnant affects the baby s health
It’s nothing new that the power of the mother influences the development of the baby, so it is advisable to eat a healthy diet, but a new study by researchers at the University of Missouri-Columbia gives us new data about how the pregnant diet influences the health of the unborn baby.
The study examined the effect of a diet rich in fat, the other rich in carbohydrates and a balanced finding that each caused different gene expressions in the placenta of pregnant rats.
By extracting ribonucleic acid (RNA) of the placenta were identified about 2,000 different genes that were changed depending on the feed received by the mother, female fetuses being the most susceptible to the influence of maternal diet.
If the mother eats a poor diet, gene expression that occur in the placenta may cause effects on the baby’s health such as heart disease, diabetes and hypertension.
Also, remember that it is not the first time highlights the importance of maternal nutrition. Previous research had found that the diet of the mother determines the sex of the baby, that a greater amount of calories favors the birth of males. For that reason, it is known that obese women are more likely to father children.
If the effect in humans is the same as in the rat study, and indeed feeding the mother a strong influence on the diseases that the baby will more than genetic predisposition, the positive is that models may be produced healthy eating for pregnant women.
However, it is always recommended to the mother eating a balanced diet consisting of all types of food to offer your baby all the right nutrients for their development.
